Not sure which you need?
Should you run your own warehouse or partner with a 3PL?
Deciding whether to manage your own warehouse or outsource to a trusted 3PL can be complex. We help you weigh up the key variables, from staffing, technology and operating costs to scalability and risk, so you can choose the warehouse solution that best fits your costs, performance and growth plans and focus on running your business, not just the warehouse.
A 3PL usually suits you when…
- Your order volumes are growing or swing with the seasons
- You’d rather not invest in a lease, racking, equipment and staff
- You need to reach customers in new regions or countries quickly
- You want to focus on product and marketing, not operations
Running your own warehouse usually suits you when…
- You have high, steady volumes, so a 3PL’s margin costs more than doing it yourself
- Your products need specialised handling, assembly or very tight quality control
- You want full control of processes, people and the customer experience
- You already have the space and a team who know how to run it

The Brooklyn’s Canadian 3PL partner delivered inconsistent service, poor communication, and limited carrier flexibility — impacting fulfilment times and customer satisfaction. They utilised the services of Warenous to find a reliable 3PL warehouse in Canada that could accommodate their continued growth.
Australia
Madd Gear is a leading provider of action sport equipment. Following a change of ownership, the company in Australia required a new 3PL warehouse to support their continued growth.

Cellnet moves from multiple 3PLs to its own warehouse
Cellnet Group is a premier distributor of lifestyle technology and gaming accessories across Australia and New Zealand. Needing a more flexible fulfilment solution, Cellnet turned to Warenous to consolidate multiple 3PL warehouses into a single company-owned warehouse.
“Received fantastic service from this rather unique offer. I had researched 3PL options myself and still ended up proceeding with a 3PL Andrew included in his suggestions. He also went out of his way to provide guidance on comparing the options and helping me realise what’s important in such a decision. Have a chat with him and hear first hand the value he adds.”
Stephen, Troverr
“Andrew was great and very patient as we made several enquiries as we transitioned to a 3PL. Once we finally made the decision, Andrew gave us several options and we relied heavily on his industry experience. Thanks Andrew.”
Mackenzie, First Thing
“Andrew was a massive help to us for our move to a new 3PL. He pulled all the data together so we could make a true comparison and provided a number of great options for us to choose from. Would highly recommend him and his service.”
Glen, Madd Gear
“Worked with the team in finding a new 3PL and found the service fantastic. Sent some data to the Warenous team and they did all the heavy lifting. We then made the move to the new 3PL, at no cost to us. Thanks Warenous! You guys rock.”

Frequently asked questions
3PL matching
Is there a cost to use your 3PL matching service?
No. We can provide a free service as our remuneration comes from the chosen 3PL warehouse. We regularly benchmark rates to ensure we’re getting the best results for our clients.
Do you benefit from recommending one warehouse over another?
No. Our fees are the same no matter which 3PL you choose from our network, so there is no commercial benefit in recommending one warehouse over another. We represent you, and our sole purpose is to find the best 3PL warehouse for your business.
Which countries do you cover?
Our pre-screened 3PL warehouse network covers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, plus partners in Europe and Asia.
Is there a minimum order volume?
We work with a range of 3PL warehouses and so can find a solution for all businesses both big and small. However, we’ve found that it is often uneconomical to use a 3PL warehouse if you are doing less than 100 orders a month. This number can vary depending on whether you receive bulk orders or single ecommerce orders, so always feel free to reach out.
How quickly will I receive proposals?
Some arrive the same day. Customised proposals typically arrive within 2–3 days.
Warehouse optimisation
How does a warehouse optimisation project work?
It starts with a free initial consultation to understand your requirements and confirm we’re the right fit. We then scope the project, usually in phases, and you approve the overall approach and the Phase 1 fees before the review begins.
What improvements can I expect?
Typical goals include faster order processing, better order accuracy, higher labour productivity, lower warehouse operating costs, a better return on your space and simpler warehouse systems. We agree the priorities with you at the start.
How do you keep the cost down?
We break the work into phases, so you only commit to the next one. Specialists are brought in only when they’re needed, and we can work alongside your own team to reduce costs further.
Who will work on my project?
We put together a team tailored to your needs. It could include a data analyst, a warehouse operations expert, an IT systems expert and a project manager. Our team have built wholesale fulfilment centres and 3PL warehouses, and have deep experience running them.
Should I run my own warehouse or outsource to a 3PL?
It depends on your order volumes, products, growth plans and budget. Our free 3PL cost calculator and warehouse cost calculator give you a starting point, and we can talk you through the trade-offs.
Export Starter
Is Export Starter free?
Yes. Our partners pay us when you choose to work with them, so you pay nothing to Warenous. Some optional services, such as warehouse modelling, carry a fee, but you choose whether you need them.
What’s included?
Pick any of these: a reliable 3PL warehouse in your export market, sales tax advice, duties guidance (including an Importer of Record where you need one), an introduction to a trusted freight forwarder, and help opening a local currency business bank account.
Which countries can you help me export to?
We help brands set up in markets including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia.
Do I need to coordinate each partner myself?
No. We coordinate the partners for you, so you have one point of contact through the whole setup. Explore Export Starter.
